july 2014

July 5th to 31st, 2014

Featuring Artist: Lori Whalen
During the month of July, we will feature the art of Back To Natives Director of Education Lori Whalen. Proceeds from the sale of her art will be donated directly to the BTN “Barn Raiser” campaign! Lori enjoys painting bold, colorful portraits of locally native plants. She does not claim to be a “professional artist”, just someone who enjoys being creative. A native of SoCal, Lori took many art lessons as a child. In high school she never missed an opportunity to take an art class. Her AP Studio Art theme was “the Goddess”, featuring images of the feminine divine in Nature. While in high school she was given the exciting opportunity to attend classes at the prestigious Otis College of Art and Design. Lori’s advice to young artists? Don’t let anyone tell you to earn a degree to “fall back on” in case you can’t make it as an artist. Do what you love. Be happy.

Something For Julia – A fundraising event
July 24, 2014 6PM – 9PM

Green Bliss and Hope Lifted would like to invite you to a very special one-time event!
SOMETHING FOR JULIA is an opportunity to show kindness and support to a hard-working woman, now a Green Bliss employee, who is in the process of overcoming homelessness for good.
Join us for a casual evening in the beautiful courtyard of Villa Del Sol. There will be live entertainment, a silent auction, raffle prizes, and the chance to give your help to someone in need.
100% of all money raised is tax deductible and will be used to help fund housing costs for Julia, who has already begun to permanently transition and better her life. Your support will ensure safe and stable living for her for a very long time.
Cost: FREE to attend!
